The Daviess County Economic Development Corporation has a released a statement following the formal release of the preferred route for the Mid-States Corridor.
In July of 2020, the Advance Daviess County Coalition, a cohort of the DCEDC, launched the Daviess Driven campaign to promote the community and region’s future and elevate Daviess County in the Mid-States Corridor discussion.
Daviess County EDC Director, Bryant Niehoff, says they have recognized the Mid-States Corridor as a “critical opportunity to further our economic development strategies”.
The EDC says they are happy to see the announcement of the Mid-States Corridor route as they say the decision promotes regional growth with many benefits to the local economy.
“Alternative Route P” starts in Spencer County and uses existing U.S. 231 until it links with I-64. A new, 54-mile portion of the road would then branch off and run parallel to US 231 in Daviess and Martin counties before linking with I-69 just north of NSWC Crane.
The EDC says they will be working with INDOT to take advantage of all opportunities with this new stretch of highway.
