An Odon man is dead following a crash early Sunday morning.
The accident was reported just before 2:00 am Sunday on I-69 near mile marker 57. The initial caller said they witnessed a vehicle spin out of control and slam into a wall. The driver was then seen walking around the vehicle.
Crews arrived on scene to find a man lying in the roadway with several injuries. According to the report, tourniquets were applied to both of his legs. The male subject was identified as 27-year-old Marty L. Thompson. He was taken to DCH where he was later pronounced dead.
Further investigation revealed Thompson was driving southbound in a red 2016 Hyundai when, for unknown reason, the vehicle ran off the roadway and into the median. Officers say the driver overcorrected and swerved before coming to a rest. He then left his vehicle and began to walk southbound along the interstate where he tripped and fell partially in the roadway. It is believed he was then hit by another vehicle, sustaining the fatal injuries.
The investigation is on-going.
