The Daviess County Commissioners met for their regular session on Tuesday.
The board first heard an update from the highway department. Highway Supervisor Chris Winkler reported concrete paving is ongoing on 900 East and work will begin on the buggy lanes this week.
Winkler also reported the department had secured a $1 million Community Crossings Grant for the Montgomery Bridge Project. The project is currently slated to begin construction in 2023.
The board also heard from the health department who was requesting approval for the 2022 Vaccine Fee Ticket. Health officials reported the fee’s increased due to rising costs sparked by inflation. The fee ticket was approved.
The health department also requested the commissioners review putting a canopy outside the health department door. Daviess County health Nurse Kathy Sullender noted the canopy would be used for outdoor clinics and as waiting on area for those waiting for vaccines. A canopy was originally in the plans for the building but was taken out due to other building changes.
The commissioners agreed to review the idea.
