The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office has been awarded a grant for body cameras.
The grant, totaling $22,400.00, was awarded through the Indiana Department of Homeland Security funded by the American Rescue Plan Act.
The office applied for and completed a competitive grant application, which will pay $973 to fund new body worn cameras, with a 25% match requirement from the Sheriff’s Office.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office says they are embracing this technology as they say it will provide transparency, records valuable evidence, and shows the events as they occurred from the deputy’s perspective.
The time frame for the program to be implemented is late summer or fall of this year.
