A southern Indiana deputy is doing better after a violent crash last week.
The sheriff in Spencer County says Deputy Ronald Harper, Jr. is alert and talking.
Harper was rushed to a Louisville hospital after a head-on crash last week.
That wreck broke his foot, hips, ribs, collar bone, and collapsed his lung.
Investigators say the other driver crossed the center line and smashed into Harper.
The other driver, 61-year-old Phillip Brown Jr. of Indianapolis, was pronounced dead at the scene.
