The Washington girls softball team grabbed a shut out win on the road last night defeating Shoals 7-0.
Washington baseball fell at home to a good Bloomfield team 10-6. Bloomfield had two home runs with one belonging to Butler college recruit Brett Sherrard who went 3 for 4 at the plate in pacing the Cardinal offense. The Hatchets drop to 6-12 with a road trip to South Spencer tonight.
Keyshawn Graber pitched a complete game no-hitter as the Barr Reeve Vikings shut out Wood Memorial last night 10-0.
North Daviess topped Shakamak 7-3. They face South Knox today. The Cougar Softball team got a big win over Orleans 11-1.
Loogootee softball topped North Knox 7-3 with four runs in the seventh to seal the victory.
Southridge defeated South Knox softball 13-9.
South Knox baseball topped Vincennes Rivet 21-2.
The Cincinnati Reds beat the Milwaukee Brewers 10-5 at Great American Ball Park to win their second straight game for the first time this season. The Reds scored five runs in the fifth thanks to a three-run Brandon Drury homer, and Cincy improved to 6-23. Colin Moran added a solo shot in the second, and Kyle Farmer capped the scoring with a three-run long ball in the eighth. In San Diego, Kyle Hendricks was one out from a complete game shutout, and the Chicago Cubs won 6-0 over the Padres. Hendricks struck out seven and allowed three hits with one walk in eight and two-thirds innings. Ian Happ drove in three with an RBI single and a two-RBI double. The Cleveland Guardians scored six runs in the top of the ninth, including a Josh Naylor grand slam, and went on to shock the Chicago White Sox 12-9 in 11 innings.
Former Indiana basketball standout and Bloomington native Jordan Hulls is coming home. IU coach Mike Woodson announced Monday that Hulls will become the Hoosiers’ team and recruiting coordinator. The 32-year-old Hulls played for the Hoosiers from 2009 to 2013, and scored over 13 hundred career points. In high school, the 6-foot guard led Bloomington South to an undefeated state title, and was named Indiana’s Mr. Basketball in 2009. He replaces Brian Walsh, who moved into an assistant coach role vacated by Dane Fife. Since graduating from IU, Hulls has played professionally in Europe, and will take over at the end of his season in Germany. He said in a statement “Indiana University has been a part of me my whole life and I couldn’t be more excited to come home and work with Coach Woodson, the entire staff, and our players in the program.”
The Indiana Fever host the Minnesota Lynx Tonight, as both teams look for their first win of the season. Indiana opened the season Friday night with a loss at Washington, followed by a loss to Los Angeles in the home opener Sunday.
