Daviess County leaders are continuing to move forward with the plan to tackle blighted properties around municipalities in the county.
The Daviess County Council unanimously approved a resolution on Tuesday to hire a Blighted Property Control Officer.
The council agreed on an annual compensation of $35,000 for the contracted position.
The contracted individual would work around 30 hours a week and would identify and coordinate cleanup of blighted properties in the county.
An ordinance will now be draw up by the county attorney for leaders to vote on in the coming weeks.
In other business, the council moved to appropriate a Community Crossing Grant totaling over $800,000.
The board also accepted the resignation of County Auditor Patty Ball who received high praise from county leaders for her work over the years.
