A 16-year-old boy’s body was recovered Sunday night from a pond, say conservation officers with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.
Conservation officers have not revealed his identity as they continue to investigate what happened.
Crews responded just after 2:50 pm Sunday to a report of a juvenile missing in a pond after falling from a rope swing about a mile north of the town of Syracuse.
Witnesses told officers that the boy was swinging from an elevated platform by a rope swing.
He jumped from the swing and into the water and never rose to the surface.
His body was found about five feet under water.
