Teammate Ericsson was able to capitalize, holding off Pato O’Ward during a late restart, caused by a Jimmie Johnson wreck. Tony Kanaan rounded out the podium finishing third. Indy native, Connor Daly, lead for a brief span, and collected a top-10 finish in position 6. Helio Castroneves managed to work his way into the top 10 after starting in the bottom half of the field. For Ericsson, it was his first Indy 500 victory, and he is now the points leader in the Indy Car Series.
