It felt like the late 2000’s in St. Louis on Tuesday night when Albert Pujols’ sac fly lifted the Cardinals over the Padres in walk off fashion. The 42-year-old sent a slider into left field allowing Tommy Edman to score after he stole third earlier in the 10th inning. The walk-off sac fly was one of two RBI’s Pujols had in the contest. Elsewhere in Major League Baseball Luis Castillo went six innings and struck out 10 Red Sox hitters as the Reds beat Boston 2-1. The Twins and Tigers split Tuesday’s double header. In game two, the Detroit pitching staff game up just three hits to Minnesota hitters. After an abysmal hitting performance on Tuesday, the Chicago Cubs put up four runs in the sixth inning to rally from behind and beat the Brewers 8-7. The White Sox tallied 13 hits against the Blue Jays but left nine runners on base and fell in Toronto 6-5.
On Tuesday, the Indiana Pacers held their third pre-draft workout welcoming six players going through the draft process to Indianapolis. Among the high major players and mid major stars was Indiana native and Purdue basketball player Sasha Stefanovic. The workout was Stefanovic’s first draft workout with an individual team not including his pro day in Chicago. The Purdue sharpshooter was joined by Kansas’ Christian Braun and Arizona’s Dalen Terry along with mid-major stars Max Abmas, AJ Green and Grayson Murphy. With several years of college eligibility left, Terry had a decision to make with June 1 being the last day a player can take his name out of the NBA draft. The energetic wing coming off a No. 1 seed with the Wildcats elected to keep his name in the 2022 draft pool. Draft night is April 23 and the Pacers possess the 6th, 31st and 58th overall selections.
The Indianapolis Colts return to the field on Wednesday for another three-day session of organized team activities. The first of three different sessions came from May 24-26 before Memorial Day weekend. Sessions four, five and six of the 10 each NFL team is allowed will take place June 1-3 before next week’s mandatory mini-camp from June 7-9. While no live contact is permitted at this point in offseason programming, teams are allowed to run drills against each other in preparation for the 2022 season. Chris Ballard, Frank Reich and company have continued to put pressure on OTA’s throughout the offseason as the blue and white try to avoid yet another slow start to the season. The last OTA session will come from June 13-16 and will be the last time the Colts are together before reporting to training camp.
