Just two days away from the 2022 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers hosted another pre-draft workout headlined by projected lottery pick and the class’ biggest mystery, Shaedon Sharpe. Sharpe, who is a former No. 1 recruit in his graduating class and one of the best athletes in this year’s draft, did not play a single minute for the Kentucky Wildcats in his one year in Lexington. His offensive ability, two-way potential and athleticism make him the type of guy that all franchises are looking for to change the trajectory of their team. The Pacers will pick sixth overall in Thursday’s draft.
Today, Notre Dame baseball takes on No. 5 Texas A&M with their national championship hopes on the line. The Irish are in the elimination portion of the bracket and will need to beat the Aggies to get another shot at the Oklahoma Sooners. After Sunday’s loss to the Sooners, head coach Link Jarrett said almost all of his pitching staff will be available with the format allowing his bullpen to refresh between every game. Jarrett would not commit to a specific Notre Dame pitcher that would start on the mound, however, only one one Irish pitcher threw more than one and two thirds innings on Sunday and freshman Jack Findlay did not throw. First pitch for the Irish and the Aggies is at 2:00pm.
The 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary brought multiple surprises for Hoosier native swimmers on Monday. After winning gold medals in 2017 and 2019, Lilly King failed to find the podium in the women’s 100-meter breast stroke missing out on a bronze medal by 0.05 seconds. Equally as surprising was Carmel swimmer Drew Kibler almost winning a medal in the 200-meter freestyle. Kibler finished fourth in 1:45:01 missing out on bronze by 0.03 seconds. He is the first Carmel swimmer ever to qualify for an individual world final.
