Last Wednesday, the Vincennes Police Department Merit Board held its monthly meeting at City Hall.
During the meeting, several officers with VPD were promoted and four other officers received various awards.
The VPD Merit Board awarded Rookie Officer Dustin Williams with a Life-Saving award. Officer Williams responded to a cardiac arrest at CVS in May where officials say he began performing CPR without hesitation. The subject then went on to make a full recovery.
Sgt. Kody Waggoner, Sgt. Michael Caswell, and Officer DJ Halter were awarded Medals of Distinctions. The three officers, along with off-duty Vincennes Firefighter Richard Ashby, responded to a call in February where a subject had fallen through the ice at Four Lakes. The officers were able to pull him to safety.
