With the NBA Draft in the rear view mirror, the Indiana Pacers make their way towards Summer League action to get a look at the young prospects and talent within the organization. The blue and gold added another piece that will go to Las Vegas to play for Indiana on July 8. Former Vanderbilt big man, Simisola Shittu, will join 2022 draft picks and other players who singed Exhibit 10 deals with the Pacers. Shittu was a former five star prospect and top 10 in the 2018 recruiting class. As a Commodore, the 6’10 forward averaged 10.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game in one year of college. Since going undrafted in 2019, he has spent time on two G-League teams and played in the Israeli Premier League.
The Cincinnati Reds drove in all five of their runs in two innings and beat the Chicago Cubs 5-3. All eight runs in the game were scored in the sixth and seventh innings and Reds pitcher Luis Castillo struck out 11 hitters over six innings. On Tuesday night, the White Sox got multiple RBI’s from five different players and two separate five run innings beating the Los Angeles Angels 11-4. The Twins and Guardians split Tuesday’s double header as the two teams battle for position at the top of the AL Central. In St. Louis, the Cardinals exploded for four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning after giving up three runs in the top of the third to the Miami Marlins, the Cardinals won 5-3. To round out the evening in the Bay Area, the Tigers fell behind immediately to the Giants and couldn’t dig themselves out of the hole falling 4-3.
The Indiana Fever will try to put an end to their two-game losing streak on Wednesday night when they take on the Phoenix Mercury for the second straight game at 10:00pm. In the first contest on Monday, the Fever were unable to slow down Diana Taurasi who finished with 27 points knocking down seven three pointers. Kelsey Mitchell once again led the way for the Fever with 22 points.
