Kenny Moore II will report to Indianapolis for the beginning of Colts training camp on July 26, according to the Indy Star. The Pro Bowl slot corner sat out the majority of organized team activities over the summer due to his discontent with the current structure of his contract. The Colts made Moore the highest paid slot corner in the NFL in 2019 when he signed a four-year extension that paid him $33 million. This season will be year three of that extension and he is scheduled to make $6.75 million this year with $8.245 million coming his way in 2023. Despite his highly productive year last season where Moore accumulated 102 tackles and four interceptions, he is still outside the top 20 cornerbacks in terms of pay this upcoming season and new Colt Stephon Gilmore will make more, on average, the next two seasons.
Josef Newgarden was dominating Iowa Speedway and the rest of the grid. He won the HyVeeDeals.com 250 on Saturday and was in position to win the second race of the weekend in Newton. And then something went wrong with his car on Lap 236 ending his bid to sweep at Iowa. An upset Newgarden gave a post-race interview after being released from the on-site medical center and then he collapsed at Iowa Speedway after the race concluded. According to Team Penske on Twitter Sunday night, Newgarden was lifted via medical helicopter to MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center where all tests and scans came back negative. The team said the driver will be held overnight for observation and will be evaluated by IndyCar medical staff on Thursday. Arrow McLaren SP’s Pato O’Ward went on to win the HyVee Salute to Farmers 300 with a pass on pit road thanks to a speedy pit stop.
