Jack Willis

Jack Willis, 93, of Petersburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of August 16, 2022.  He was born in Petersburg on November 4th, 1928, to Foster and Francis Willis.
He proudly enlisted in the US Navy in 1946, followed by a long career with and retirement from the Old Big Coal Mine.
He was predeceased by his parents, his siblings, two infant sons, and his son-in-law Jeff Jackson. His wife Suzanne, whom he married in 1985, passed away March 9, 2019, after 34 years of marriage.
He is survived by his beloved daughter Deena Jackson (Jeff), grandchildren Josh Jackson (Kylie) and Jayme Lane (Cody), and great-grandchildren Ora Lane, Chance Lane, Leighton Jackson, Colt Lane, Mailin Jackson, Colvin Jackson, and Breezlin Jackson.  He is also survived by Suzanne’s children Jeff Werner (Sue), Mary DeMoss (Paul), and Julie Weeks (Larry Eck), grandchildren Natalie Byrd (Josh), Daniel Weeks (Sarah), James Werner (Jasmine), Alex Werner, Elizabeth Buchanan (Nate) and Emily Demoss (Josh Lile-Melton), and great-grandchildren Aidan McGiffen, Isaac McGiffen, Leo McGiffen, Mika Weeks, and Matilda Weeks.
Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, eating out with old friends, woodworking, tinkering in the yard, and golfing. Well known in the community, he will be missed by all.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00am on Monday, August 22, 2022, at Walnut Hills Cemetery in Petersburg, Indiana, Pastor Justin Brown officiating.  In lieu of flowers, Jack’s family requests that memorial contributions be made to a charitable cause in his memory.
