The Washington girls’ soccer team gave up a tough goal in the final five minutes to lose a heartbreaker at home to Gibson Southern 2-3. The goals for the Lady Hatchets came from Ella Niehaus and Izzy Howell. The girls go to 4-2 on the season and will play at the Hoosier Cup in Bloomington on Friday.
The WC girls’ varsity soccer team traveled to Bloomfield Tuesday and left with a 4-1 victory. Maritza Villagran Cruz and Mya Cline scored in the first half to give WC a 2-1 lead at the half. Rosie Serrano and Ella Grissom finished out the scoring in the second to complete the win. Up next for the WC girls in Vincennes, Lincoln at home on September 7th at 5:30.

Former Princeton high school and Notre Dame basketball standout Jackie Young was named as this season’s most improved player in the WNBA. Young raised her scoring average from 12 points a game it’s nearly 16 points per game or helping lead Las Vegas to a franchise record of 26 wins and the best mark in the league.
