Buds’ Elixirs, a local restaurant establishment known for its vegan and vegetarian cuisine, is hosting a Town Hall Meeting on October 11, 2023, at 7 pm (doors open at 6:30 pm) at the Washington, Indiana National Guard Armory, 500 NE 6th St., to discuss the impact of cannabis legalization on public health and safety, the medical applications of cannabis and potential positive outcomes for patient care, and the economic benefits to the State and local economies.
State politicians and political candidates have been invited to attend, as well as Washington Mayor, David Rhodes, the Daviess County Prosecutor’s Office, local law enforcement, and the Washington City Council. Other organizations, such as Purdue Extension, the Chamber of Commerce, and local Veterans groups have also received formal invitations.
A panel of cannabis experts from the medical, education, and business sectors will be in attendance to address any questions or comments from community members. All area residents are welcome and encouraged to attend to express their support or opposition to cannabis legalization.
Eric Walford, co-owner of Buds’ Elixir’s states “This town hall is about helping people. We want people to understand the medicinal properties of the cannabis plant. We also want to educate the community on the importance of regulations in regards to cannabis reform.”
Local resident, Deby Rodimel, commented that cannabis enhances her focus while relieving stress and produces a better night’s sleep. She believes that legalizing cannabis will help regulate the safety of the product and boost the economy.
